The city of Harrisburg hosts several entertaining events! The annual Art Walk is one occasion that we look forward to.
It's where all of our local artists gather at Harrisburg Park to sell their creations. It's a beautiful sight to watch as the golden leaves fall on the walkway that leads to the various stalls where individuals of all ages, races, and ethnicities sell the products they are most proud of. Many of the items sold were homemade, like candles, paintings, bookmarks, and book art.
A shout-out to one of our good friends, Riley, who was a vendor. She and her mother had a stand full of witty bookmarks with various themes that any bookworm would adore. But her mother's folded book art was the true highlight! The pages of books are essentially folded to create various forms inside of them.
For use as decorations in workplaces, classrooms, libraries, etc.
The hedgehog was a personal favorite of ours! You can find them on Instagram at @creationsbylma and Facebook at CreationsByLMA, they also have an Etsy shop under the same name.
Candles are my (Nicky) favorite indulgence. Candles with aromas like strawberry cheesecake, lemon bars, ocean breeze, and coffee were widely available from many vendors. Additionally, many stalls had homemade dinnerware that were appealing.
Photographers who sell their most recent images. Wood chess sets, coffee tables, and chairs that have been polished and finished.
Handcrafted tote bags, jewelry, dream catchers, and quilts. These were all the attractions to check out in the following Art Walk.
Another form of art also took place by Reinaldo Brahn. He serenaded the crowd with his beautiful voice and guitar skills. Originally born in Belo Horizonte, moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2007. He performed several songs that showed his connection to his Brazilian roots and soothed everyone's souls as they strolled through the park. For more information about him, you can view his Instagram @rbrahn and his website which is linked in his bio.
I (Saha) also set up a stall, featuring beautiful handmade acrylic paintings and silk thread jewelry.
Nicky and I had a great time exploring the other booths. Though I felt a little discouraged at first, my sales later picked up and by the end of it, I made a total of 374 dollars! I had a bunch of fun meeting new, interesting people and being able to connect with them over their love of art. You can check out my Facebook and Etsy pages at ShopMarigolds.
The pictures below are not related to the art walk, but instead are pictures of an original grocery store in Harrisburg called Morrison/Sims and the original Post Office that has been turned into a historical attraction filled with newspapers, yearbooks, the original packaging of products, original tools they used in the markets and old yearbooks from the ’90s. Walking inside was like taking a time machine back to the 1900s when the building was first incorporated.
